So, yesterday, as Valrie (my sister) and I are heading home from Kansas City, and we are nearing the Oklahoma/Kansas State Line, I look out to the east....we are heading south....and about 100 yards, on the other side of the interstate, in the field, is an ugly cloud... I say to Val, Wow, check it out.....thats a tough looking cloud. She looks and says, Yes, it is. Just as suddenly as we have that exchange, the winds started shifting and pulling around us, and rain started falling, and making a POPPING sound....we have since decided it was small hail. Val, keeps driving, and I am thinking to myself....Yep, thats a wall cloud with a rotation and a definite lowering. I guess Val noticed I kept looking at the cloud as we were moving and she finally asks..Cheri, is that a wall cloud? All I could say was..just keep driving, Val...there is sunshine right up ahead in Oklahoma. Well, of course she is wanting an answer, but I didnt want to panic her....(as cars are whizzing past us) Finally, she say demands an answer and I said ..Yes, Val....that is a wall cloud that is now a tornado......By now we were past any danger and about three miles or so from the state line. Around 30 mins. later, I get a text from Barry asking if we are at the Stillwater exit yet, I answer that we are about 25 miles from Guthrie. Hes replies..AWESOME!! Come to find out, that yes that tornado ended up being a pretty significant one that went through Kansas, and the storms were building very closely behind us. Had we spent 10 minutes extra at any one of our stops, we would have been right in the middle of everything!!!! We are all Thanking the Lord this morning for having HIS hands around the car...and the other cars on the road!! Going to be a wonderful day....Feeling Thankful and Grateful!! God Bless you all and much Love
