So yet another stroke of genius Mr Cameron; you and your ‘In It - TopicsExpress

So yet another stroke of genius Mr Cameron; you and your ‘In It Together’ team must have spent many hours long into the night to come up with this one. If you’re under 25 and haven’t got a job and you have the temerity to be ‘not in education or training’, you have to lose your benefits and go home to live with mum. So you leave school maybe go to college or university to get those ‘valuable’ qualifications and afterwards, against all the odds, you manage to find a job. After a while things are starting to look good for you so you cut the apron strings move away from home, perhaps take a little rented flat somewhere. And then, after a year or two, out of the blue you are made redundant. The job market being as it is makes it near impossible to find a job but you’re stoical you’ll do anything rather than sit around all day. But surprise, surprise prospective employers for the jobs that are available discover that you have a degree and are ‘over-qualified’ (which probably means you’re more intelligent that they are). You can no longer afford the rent for your little flat and the Job Centre says I’m sorry but you’re under 25 and a NEET so it’s tough titty, no more benefits for you, I’m afraid you’ll have to go home to your mum and live in your old bedroom. ‘But’, you say, ‘my mum was thrown out of our old home because of the bedroom tax, she hasn’t got a spare room anymore and she’s really poor she couldn’t afford to keep me. What happens now?’ The Job Centre clerk looks at you with a bewildered expression, down at his leaflet, and then back at you. It doesn’t tell him what to do and because he is probably less intelligent than you as well, he is flummoxed. But never mind, no doubt your team of rocket scientists will have thought of some way out of this conundrum, probably involving workhouses or concentration camps. Hey wait a minute that would be another opportunity for G4S! Thank God we’re all in it together.
