So you cant really tell in this picture but this wingless giant grasshopper-lookin-bastard was about as large and thick as my index finger. I found about a hundred of these guys all around the side of the road when we were waiting for the big truck to roll. Must be their season. Had no idea what they were but there were so many that had been killed on the road already that I started scooping their giant asses up in my hat and dumping them further from the road to keep them safe. This guy repaid me by standing still for a pic. Did some research and found out they were called Plains Lubbers. Kind of cute.
