So you just never know when something will come along and make your day; especially when in the middle of a tough/busy/hectic one. Brief Background (as brief as I can be): Last week I was sitting at my desk and I see this rolling walker (Sr. citizen style) go over the curb and fall into the street. I thought it was this one little lady that stops to get a paper from the box in front and her buggy occasionally gets away from her. (We have a Sr. housing unit behind the office and they walk the block.) I had gone out to help her retrieve it from the gutter several times. Off to the front I go and see no one there at the paper box. Upon further investigation I see this elderly woman sitting on the ground dazed and confused. She was a block walker that I had seen many times rolling past my window. I thought she was in her 70s (maybe 80s) and seemed to be suffering from Parkinsons disease. I helped her up with the assistance of a passerby, retrieved the walker from the street and got her stable. She shared that she had been to Macys (7+ blocks away!!!) on foot and had just walked too much. She had bumped her head on the bricks when she fell, so I walked her back to the apartments behind the office. Along the way she informed me that she was 90 and was one of Pauls (our photographer) girlfriends. She also let me know that she would feel much better when she got back home to her Scotch. She said, its calling me home. Hear it? Agnes, Agnes!. She was a hoot. I got her into the lobby and let the staff know she had taken a spill and to keep watch on her. I thought nothing more of it and then today I get this lovely email below forwarded to me from Paul. An email folks, from the 90 (ninety) year old I had assisted. My heart is overwhelmed by her note to me. Do good things when you can folks... its all a big circle! EMAIL: Paul, and everyone at the Independent. I fell in front of the Independent office yesterday. And I want to thank the TWO men who scrapped me off of the sidewalk and set me upright. I may be starting to feel some of my years. A handsome gentleman walked me back to Garden Court as he urged movement into my limbs to keep me moving forward. I doubt if I could have made it alone. Please thank him for me. with a hug and a THANK YOU...THANK YOU...THANK YOU. I promise that this wont happen again. That is, it wont happen repeatedly. I am happy that Life is still full of exciting experiences. Let the good times roll. Love, Agnes
