Sobering reality: I have been moved to yet another room in the hospital for my safety, due to health conditions of the patient I was sharing a room with. Im in a room now with 3 others, all elderly, and are hard of hearing, so you cant but help hear the conversations taking place behind that closed curtain. This morning, a gentleman was asked if he wanted to change his orders........orders? It seems he is suffering complications of his surgery due to a heart condition, and they have to go back in to try to correct it, but if anything...anything at all goes sideways (which sounds like thats real possibility) , he has a 2 - 3% chance of recovery for any meaningful quality of life. He is asked if he wants to change the resuss procedures at all, or do away with them all together because it sounds like his surgery is later.today. He paused, and replied Im sorry this is something I have to talk to my wife about. Ill call her in to discuss it. I cant imagine having to have a conversation with my wife about that, and my heart cries and prays for these people who face this real situation, and wish I could do something physically to help..... There are just some conversations i do not want to be privy to....I dont want to be here.
