Social media has its place ...I am grateful for how its kept me - TopicsExpress

Social media has its place ...I am grateful for how its kept me close to those who were close already emotionally, but not so geographically .. .how its reconnected me with some who I have moved away from, and even some who have moved farther (some as far as the United Kingdom!) And I have found benefit in connection with groups of similar interest (rocks, geology, science, photography, Arabian horses, and even memories of my home town.) But, this last year Ive noticed a severe change in my outlook on humanity and a less than optimistic philosophy of its direction ...I admit its quite disturbing...and while I can cite many reasons to justify it, I really dont want to run around pinning blame on everything ...but the feed I get on Facebook Im sure is a contributing factor. I came across this article in my feed...and it makes sense. It makes a lot of sense! Is there a way to take social media feed out of this equation? Perhaps there is! So to all out there, please dont feel offended if I dont add another number to the little blue thumb at the bottom of posts. You know what I enjoy and what I generally remain aloof about. I think the best way to express my acceptance, enthusiasm, and pride of association can be best expressed in sincere language, and not by a mere digital pulse triggered by the tap of a thumb over a little icon. Ive got enough influences on emotion. ..puter algorithms need not be one of them!
