Social media sites are training you to take information at lightning speed. It is not training you to retain the knowledge and experience that this passing of information has to offer. With that being said, I am no longer happy providing an outlet for local emcees to show their talents. Nov 16th will be the last GTN event in Florida for the rest of the year. in 2014, we will open divisions with other leagues and allow adsense sharing through our channels to show up and coming leagues that the companies do not make as much as you think we do through these channels. It is made elsewhere. We will have some tryouts but I am more concerned with the battlers in Florida taking GTN for granted because it is in their back yard. This decision comes after trying to set up a charity event in December. I wanted to do a Toys for Tots drive and start taking battle rap out of what it is perceived to be (a bunch of ignorant rappers who should not be given a chance at succeeding and should not be respected). My selling point to most of them, lets bring our community together and really do something right for a change. The majority of the responses had nothing to do with this charity. It had to do with the same diva attitudes that I am now used to. So now, why would I want to continue contributing to this culture if you cannot contribute to it. I dont mean me either. I mean these underprivileged children that will not get a chance to even have a decent memory of a good holiday. I have spent thousands of dollars trying to give other people a different and creative outlet that I could be investing into my life. Bring GTN to the United Nations, Rock the Bells, Warped Tour, A3C, and the hundreds of Hip Hop Legends who said it was their favorite to watch has satisfied me to the point where I could walk away and not feel like I have failed my culture. I am seriously contemplating a life away from Social media outlets that will allow me to spend more time with my true love, my daughter. Good Night.
