Socialism is Dependency and the Ownership of the - TopicsExpress

Socialism is Dependency and the Ownership of the people. Socialism causes dependency, and that in turn is a form of slavery. A population dependent of government to do for them what they should do for themselves become dependent on that government. The government then for all practical purposes owns that population and is superior to that population. This is in stark contrast to government of, by, and for the people as is our birth right. The question that begs to be asked is do we really understand what that means, and do we desire to be subservient and dependent on government. Hurricane Luis gave us an example of how that kind of dependency works in reality. We saw there that the majority of victims were from the poorer areas of St. Maarten, and dependent on government for their sustenance. When disaster struck, they expected government to save them instead of taking that responsibility on themselves. The results were tragic. When people need help most the government is incapable of helping them. Because they have allowed themselves to be dependent on government, they are incapable of helping themselves. It is easy to be seduced by the image of a gigantic benevolent government being our guardian and protector, but in reality that is not what government is. Government takes freedom and self reliance from the people under the promise of safety and security. This in turn enslaves people making them dependent slaves to the system. Government sponsored socialism is in direct contrast to the principals of freedom. As Benjamin Franklin said, “Those who are willing to sacrifice Liberty for temporary safety…. deserve neither”.
