Society is a mish mash of rhetoric, sarcasm, double standards. Ray Rice gets shown the door by the NFL. People are so quick to overlook this whole issue as a one off. What happened to this thing deemed political correctness. It seems it is only used or called upon when it doesnt happen to your sports team or to you personally or a family member. Statistics show over and over and over and over that a man who can hit a women in anger (not self defense) in a fight etc, will more than likely do it again, same applies to a woman who does it too (it happens more than we know). The pressure that has now been put on him will likely cause more anger and problems. This is not about whether he can be shown how to manage himself and not do this again, this is about consequences, period. If I rob a bank and go to jail but someone says, He only did it once, give him another chance. Yes, I would be given another chance, after I went to jail for a while. WAKE UP PEOPLE, WHAT HE DID IS A CRIME. This is not about football, this is about what we as a society deem acceptable and about the ways we should treat our fellow human beings. If he suffers financially or his reputation is damaged, well rebuild it, do it with meaning and not a bunch of public fanfare....do it for yourself.
