Soft crimes deserve punishment. Fines, probation, education. We have a crisis in our Local, state,federal jail/prison system, huge expenses and inadequate facilities and not enough money! Lets find a way to change...its Not working the way we do punishment now. Unless the crime is violent, lets not take away a persons livelihood as a deter ant , sure this hurts and someone feels good that the crime was punished. But, if we bring this individual down, we may ultimately be providing government assistance down the line we other citizens will pay for this person receiving state aid or destroying what they have left or be reinstated back into the penal system. Violent crimes simply should not be allowed released! Circumstances that warrant release are always case by case. But because of overcrowding should never be the case! If we as a society do allow a criminal after serving time plan on releasing back into the masses, on their own.... We better, mandate that we Rehab not just Incarcerate this criminal! If we expect punishment to work and prevent, we have to do more than we do now! We have to Counsel, to educate to prepare for release, especially if this captive has been locked up for several years! We have to provide a chance for success, if anything, we owe it to each of our safety to provide as a full part of Rehab! Folks in for violent crimes for life or on Death Row, we owe to them to carry out the punishment awarded them and the Victim deserves their families deserve the punishment to be carried out. Those life punishment deserve day to day humane care, thats All! Nothing more, nothing less. It is not a Spa or Free ride. Life skills, social ways of earning a living have to be provided in order to keep the criminal when released from repeating the crime. Just a Rant.
