Soil temperatures at 9am averaged 9.1 degrees, 0.5 degrees warmer than last week. We have seen some good progress and the weather outlook over the week is for wet but Northerly weather, so hopefully we will see a return to seasonal growth rates. We have had 8.4 mm rain this week. This weeks measured average pasture cover is 2326 kg DM/ha, an increase of 99 kg Dm/ha. Our average daily pasture growth rate for the last week has been 55 kg DM/ha. This gives us an estimated 27 tonne feed deficit. The round length was 25 days, 3 days slower than last week. We have fed silage all week, with all cows receiving an average of 8.8 kg DM/cow per day. Our plan as we move into the second round is to feed as well as we can whilst concentrating on ensuring good pasture quality going forward by achieving even and consistent residuals of 1500 - 1700 kg DM/ha. We will use high quality silage to hold the round length above 22 days. The coming week we expect to use less silage and will manage the round length between 22 and 25 days. Average milk production per cow is now 2.17kgMS/cow and 7.48 kg MS/ha. 65ha received nitrogen this week at 25kg N/ha. 36.8ha received gibberellic acid following grazing No mowing has been done.
