Soiteng road in mess for years MAGRAY MUDASIR YAQOOB Smaller Default Larger Srinagar, June 14: The only road link to Soiteng is in a dilapidated condition for the past over four years putting the people to inconvenience. The inhabitants of Soiteng and Padshahi Bagh said the four-odd kilometer road is full of potholes. The residents said the road is so bumpy that many have developed health problems. “People have developed back problems because of travel on the bumpy road,” said President Soiteng Welfare Committee Manzoor Ahmad Magray. “Though Soiteng is mere 5 kilometers from Lal Chowk, the travel takes around an hour because of the bad road conditions,” the residents said. Given the bad road conditions the locals said mini buses avoid catering to the route. The locals accused the Roads and Building (R&B) department of being callous towards the development of the area. When contacted, Executive Engineer R&B GM Sheikh said: “I have recently taken over the charge here. But I assure you that the work for repairing of Soiteng road will be initiated shortly.”
