Sol 695 : End of Drive MastCam images reveal that the terrain immediately in front to Curiosity offers less challenges to the rover drivers, as the cap rocks are more rounded and should cause less issues with the wheels. Plans for today (sol 696) include APXS integrations of 2 targets close to the front of the rover called Wildrose and Surprise, MastCam imaging of a target called Jangle, then a sequence of Multispectral observations of an area dubbed Mahogany Flats. Then a drive to the top of a ridge where we should see the entrance to Hidden Valley. The tasks for that day will conclude with post-drive imaging to assist in planning the next drive. Zabriskie Plateau has been a huge challenge for the drivers, but we should soon be in sight of the valley where their job should be a little less chalenging.
