Soldier, Actor, Great Guy! My friend, actor and Army veteran Tim Abell is being inducted as a Distinguished Member of the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) on 3 October 2014, at 10:30 AM in Conmy Hall, JBM-HH, Virginia. The Induction Ceremony will be conducted during the annual Old Guard Association Review. Tim was a US Army Ranger with the 75th Ranger Regiment, 2nd Ranger Battalion, Ft. Lewis, Washington. He was also a member of the 3rd US Infantry, The Old Guard, Caisson Platoon. These are the guys that guard the Tom of the Unknown Soldier and bury Presidents. His acting break came in Soldier of Fortune (1997) as Benny Ray Riddle, a former Marine scout/sniper recruited by the Pentagon to work as part of a covert team. Tim hosts a TV show called Grateful Nation on which he takes veterans hunting. He has been Chairman of a group formed to prevent veteran suicide, The Gallant Few. Tim invited me to the set of the film Subconscious, resulting in my getting to be an actor. He was also the inspiration for my friend Tom Stedham getting into acting.
