Soldiers of the 210th Regional Support Group gathered today at the Army Reserve Center in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico for their Change of Command Ceremony. Brig. Gen. Jose R. Burgos, Commanding General of the 1st Mission Support Command, hosted the ceremony in which Col. Luis E. Torres. relinquished command of the Brigade. An Army unit conducts a change-of-command ceremony whenever a new commander takes charge. The central rite of this ceremony is the passing of the unit guidon from the outgoing commander to the incoming commander. By taking the guidon, the new commander signals his selfless commitment to the traditions, values, and Soldiers that the guidon represents. Specialist Anthony Acosta, Specialist Xavier Lugo, Specialist Bryan Silva, Private 1st Class Misael Gonzalez, and Private 1st Class Adrian Reyes received the Commanders Coin for Excellence from Brig. Gen. Burgos for their superb job as Brigade Color Guard during the ceremony. On order, the 210th RSG provides outgoing command and control and assists units in meeting training and readiness in designated area of operations. Provide structure for non major combat operations and support deployment requirements in a specific theater of operations. The wartime mission of the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment is to deploy to a new theatre of operations, relocate unit to a new operating site, establish unit area of operation, perform life support function, defend assigned area, and redeploy unit to home station. The peacetime mission of the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment is to provide command and control, structure for non-major combat operations, and assist active components and reserve components units in meeting training, readiness, and deployment requirements.
