Soldiers of the Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division were recognized this month as the Army Aviation Association of America announced their annual award winners. The winners of the Air and Sea Rescue of the year were the crews of Dustoff 66 and Dustoff 54 from C/2-1 Boomer Dustoff. They received this prestigious honor for their rescue efforts following the loss of Arrowsmith 35 to enemy action on December 17th, 2013 in Zabul Province, Afghanistan. The Soldiers of Fox Company 2-1 GSAB were awarded the Air Traffic Control Unit of the Year for their unwavering commitment to safety and efficiency while controlling the skies for Regional Command West during their nine month deployment to Afghanistan. The “Dust Off” crew members and representatives of Fox Company will be officially recognized on Feb. 4th, 2015 during the Army Aviation Leadership Conference in Fort Rucker, Alabama.
