Solemn Novena to St. Jude – Day 8 St. Jude might be called the patron saint of very personal problems. Perhaps because his name was mistakenly associated with Judas Iscariot, the one who betrayed Jesus, people have been reluctant to call on him as their intercessor. Only when all else fails have people turned to him for help. And then he always hears their desperate pleas. Today St. Jude still listens to heartfelt needs & intercedes for people with the Lord. You may be praying this Novena right now because of some desperate need in your life. Before asking for anything, it is always appropriate to acknowledge what we have already received. Pause for a moment & reflect on a past of current blessing from God for which you are grateful, & offer a brief prayer of thanksgiving. Now bring to mind what it is you specifically want St. Jude to ask God for at this time. Trust St. Jude to carry your petition directly to God without delay. Closing prayer: Lord, Jesus, you have held out your hand to so many who have sought your help. Now please take hold of my hand & see me through this time of trouble. Give me the strength to hope against hope & the courage to greet each new day. Renew my faith in your healing touch, & help me put my trust entirely in you during the days & hours that lie ahead. Amen.
