Solemn ceremonies mark Mukden Incident anniversary Solemn ceremonies are being held across #China to mark the 83rd anniversary of the beginning of the 1931 #Japanese #invasion of northeast China. Within the country, the day is marked as the September 18 Incident, or the Mukden Incident. 83 years ago on this day, the Japanese Army detonated explosives and destroyed a section of the railroad in Mukden (present-day Shenyang), in northeast China’s Liaoning Province.
