Solid advice right here. Ive always wanted to own a hot rod shop, or a specialty car shop (wheels or stereo or German cars) and although I love working on cars and tuning them and making them faster and/or louder, I know a lot of shop owners who barely squeak out a living. For awhile I wanted to be a contractor and build homes, but even though I knew a lot about construction I didnt know enough to go out on my own and I would have needed to spend many years learning from other builders. For a couple years I wanted to be a fighter, and I did fight but I realized my body couldnt take the beating and my chances of making it to Glory or The Kings Cup or Pride or K1 was too slim for me to go after it as I was ok but I was not great. I did not settle on owning a gym, I found something I truly loved and found a way to make good money doing it, I love my life and work and I make a decent living. Someday I will own a shop...but it will be a legit Ford or VW/Audi dealership and I will pay others to manage it and do sales and fix the cars as I love all of it but if I follow that dream on my own without a team it will not come true. And remember this as my final though...I worked at a dog daycare training dogs and watching dogs and yes cleaning up after dogs while I was in the process of opening the gym, many people want to follow their dreams but they are not willing to make the sacrifices necessary to make that dream come true.
