Some 300 Auschwitz survivors have returned to the site of the Nazi death camp in southern Poland today to mark 70 years since its liberation. An estimated 1.3 million people, the vast majority Jews, were killed there between 1940 and 1945, until advancing Soviet Red Army troops liberated it. Angela Rayner writing in the Morning Star, describes her recent visit to the death camp which has come to represent the whole inhumanity of the holocaust and the nazi ideology which underpinned it.
