Some Civil Society Organizations in Malawi have acted out their demo against the very moral concepts prescribed by our Malawian culture! That is the reason why their have goofed big time in their parade! In Malawi, ALL plans and programmes are supposed to be abandoned when there is a tragic incident such as a funeral or some sickness. That is what we call Umunthu in our culture and those in society that fail to at least value this standard are considered to be either foreigners or athakati. The CSOs involved have managed to reap wind in terms of the appeal of their roadshow because they had their priorities upside down! If they had proper reasoning & a healthy brains, I think they would recognize that floods are the main issue at hand and not a demo without direction! What these CSOs have done is to leave a funeral unattended and go somewhere kukakumbutsa ngongole (their demand that some organizations give back money). This is very un-Malawian!! and to make matters worse , they kumbutsa ngongole from faraway neighbors (BEAM, MWA, NIB) and not just kumbutsa/lonjera from the closest neighbor (Joyce Banda Foundation International).. anyway, when CSOs are led by unprincipled , corrupt politicians, thats the best you can expect from them!! ife ndi ayani?
