Some Lawmaker is proposing bible to be the State book in my State…. Which Bible? I would love to have the bible declared as my State Book. The question is whose Bible? I would love my Bible to be the State book. I wrote my Bible. It is unlike any religious scripture that I have read. It will not make you closer to God, it will not give you peace of mind. It probably will make you sad and remorseful. It does not contain any praise or hymns or chants or sura. It does not praise almighty. It is just pages and pages of why. That is my Bible. I read it every day and I keep asking why? I was born in a country where an untold misery was brought upon when Gods divided the country into two and then three. Those countries are known as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Even today the division based on those Gods raise it’s ugly head, and a few children in the school are asked to recite their last prayer before being roasted in a barrage of automatic gunfire. I am talking about Peshawar, Pakistan incident. I have a why for each of those ugly incidents in my bible. I have a “why” for the Daniel Pearl beheading and then many more to follow with Gods being recited both by the killers and the victims and the sword fell to cut human beings into two pieces. I have many “whys” in my Bible for those uncivilized actions. I have big “whys” on Jihads and crusades, millions enslaved in the name of scriptures and people called other people pagans gypsies, Jews, Kafirs, blasphemous, apostasy, and heresy, witches, in the name of God. I have my bible full of “Whys” for those innocent Yezdi girls, for all the natives whose children were kidnapped and educated and civilized in camps for better spiritual education. I have whys and whys for the bloodshed in the name of all the civilized religions which trampled fine civilizations which does not exist anymore. Does it make me a non-believer or a Heresy? I do not know. But if religious extremism is what faith is all about, I will stick to my Bible and will keep on reading my Bible which has just one word repeated thousands of times, millions of times, WHY? Barun K.
