Some Time Ago Story: Saint Michael the Archangel Russian Orthodox - TopicsExpress

Some Time Ago Story: Saint Michael the Archangel Russian Orthodox Church was originally constructed between 1844 and 1848. In 1962, it was designated as a National Historic Landmark for being the principal representative of Russian cultural influence in 19th century North America. Unfortunately, in 1966, it was destroyed by fire. The church that stands today is a reconstruction. The church was able to be reconstructed due to measured drawings completed by the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) in 1961. HABS documentation proved to be invaluable in the reconstruction of this important Landmark. For more information about the Historic American Buildings Survey, please visit: nps.gov/hdp/ ~vg
