Some action from yesterdays race at Hamden Hall and a report from the meet: The rain yesterday rolled off the Owls and Owlets wings as they flew to Hamden Hall and hauled in most of the top places and two wins for both the girls and boys teams. The girls record now stands at 12 wins and 12 losses and the boys stand at 21 wins and 4 losses. First across among all the girls was 3rd Grader Olivia, winning 1st place by covering the 1.6 miles of trails and fields and paths in 12:15. Maggie sprinted to the finishing tape next, securing second overall place with a great time of 12:30. Third and 4th overall were also grabbed by Country School students, with Kayla finishing in a time of 12:45 and Ava with a time of 12:53. Showing her usual smooth stride and big smile, Tessa finished in 5th place in a time of 13:46. Running her very first race ever off campus, Liliana achieved a time of 18:06 for 6th place among all the girls. The boys parliament swooped in and displayed their most impressive showing of the season. Robbie led the squad, winning the race and perhaps setting a new Middle School course record in a time of 9:03. Second overall was garnered by captain Joseph in a time of 9:58, pursued strongly by captain Christian skating across the finish in 10:20. Captain Graham needed to sprint as hard as he ever has to hold off a fast-closing opponent over the final 300 meters. Grahams time of 10:35 was his best ever on the Hamden Hall wooded course. Ryan showed the way by finishing in 6th place with a strong time of 10:49, with Cameron right behind him in a time of 11:01. The fans saw good things to come, with Ian flashing across in 8th place in a time of 12:12 and Sam next in a really impressive time of 12:24 to take 9th place for the boys. The team enjoyed a spread of ages, with Jamie W. finishing in 13:13, Donald C. finishing in 13:21, Liam B. racing in at 13:46, and Mason W. breaking the tape in 14:29. Afterward, the Country School teams distinguished themselves by devouring 47 lollipops, 23 bags of popcorn, 12 bags of sun chips and some grapes.
