Some are attempting to use the utter failure of the Obamacares Federal Exchange as a reason to pursue state-based exchanges. If you are inclined to believe this, please keep in mind that there is no difference between state-base exchange and a federal exchange where it counts...control over your healthcare decisions. Obamacare seeks to fundamentally transform the authority for these decisions from We the People to the Federal HHS Director, Kathleen Sebelius. In fact, the only substantive differences between the various exchange options so graciously offered to the states by the federal government pertain to who operates which function of the system such as complaint desks. All operations will be subject to the strict regulatory restrictions dictated by the federal government. Free market health exchanges free of the 20,000 pages of Obamacare regulations are the only viable solution. In fact, they already are working today. When I sought to find a plan on a private exchange earlier this year, I received a half dozen phone calls within 30 minutes of completing my application (which took less than 3 minutes to complete). On free market exchanges, your plan options will not be dictated by a board of government appointees, your health information will not be shared with multiple government agencies, and competition between exchanges will help to drive down costs and improve quality.
