Some brothers and sisters asked me, Is Saturday correct day or Sunday to celebrate Eid ul Adha. My answers are that Allah knows best..I am not a scholar to give Fatwa, but as a Muslim, I have strong believe that two Eid in one City ( Matla) is awful and it is not conforming with the teaching of our beloved Prophet . Someone told me it is Ok to practice different opinions , so Masajid have differences of moon sighting methodology, so no problem if our decision to divide the community.. As a matter of fact, looking at the Quran and lives of the Companions and the righteous, we see that even prophets may have differed on issues (such as Musa and Haroon and Sulayman and Dawud-peace upon them all), but them differing over an issue did not lead them to disunity and division. We must ask our community leaders and Imams about their failures about moon sighting. As per my research there are few options ( Wahdat-e-Matla and Ikhtilaf-e-Matla) available that can unite the community, if we are sincerely solving the problem.. Clear your mind that there is no problem with the Islamic ruling about moon sighting, but the real problem is with our ego, nationalistic feeling, hatred, blind follower of a Sheikh, arrogance and ignorance. My family and I decided to celebrate Eid on Saturday Oct 04 with my brothers and sisters whom they went to Hajj. Also I send my greetings to my brothers and sisters that they are celebrating Eid on Sunday Oct 05. It is sad to see two Eid in Edmonton, but In Sha Allah, Allah may forgive our shortcoming …community needs to work wisely to solve this issue and keep the community united on religious events This is another view about calculation...To listen to different scholars will help us to develop strategy to solve the problem
