‘Some colectivos began as neighborhood watch kind of organizations, but under Chavez they turned into vigilantes who harrassed middle-class business owners and workers and committed rape, assault, murder and more, and have driven productive people completely out of Venezuela. When I visit Panama and Costa Rica I meet many Venezuelans who fled their homeland after they were harassed, their business confiscated or forced to close, etc., merely because they were not enthusiastic supporters of Chavez socialist ratings. In Venezuela, until the past few weeks of protest, you had to be either a vocal Chavez/Maduro supporter or you had better keep a low profile and stay hidden. If you dare question the Chavistas, your business is gone or your home is ransacked, etc.’ ‘Strange how the people in the slums are so supportive of the status quo that has kept them in their present state of poverty...’ ‘Colectivos are Chavez created thugs.
