Some couple of months back ,had gone thro an editorial of Shri Khushwant Singh wherein he was honest enough to tell his readers that someone has sent him an important notewhich he put into his weekly assignment of HT. It is about the debate on "Should India be given Independance" The British Govt headed by Clement Attlee was in favour of it. It was Post War(IInd world war) period. Here the wartime PM (Ex) Winston Chuchill said ......POWER WILL GO INTO THE HANDS OF RASCALS,ROUGES AND FREEBOOTERS. ALL LEADERS WILL BE OF LOW CALIBRE AND MEN OF STRAW.THEY WILL HAVE SWEAT TOUNGES AND SILLY HEARTS.THEY WILL FIGHT AMONGST THEMSELVES FOR POWER AND INDIA WILL BE LOST IN POLITICAL SQABBLES. NOT EVEN A BOTTLE Of WATER WILL ESCAPE TAXATION, ONLY THE AIR WILL BE FREE AND THE BLOOD OF THESE MILLIONS WILL BE ON THE HEAD OF ATTLEE. Here how can we all in India can imagine that a person (Churchil} could predict the scenario of Indian Polity almost six decades ago. WE ALL HAVE HELPED TO PROVE HIM RIGHT.
