Some days are better than others. This, however, has not been one of those better days. For starters, my trusty laptop/work computer of many years is starting to die completely. Its trackpad has long since quit (been using a USB mouse for some time now), and now the USB ports have all given up the ghost, all at once. Going to get the passengers off this doomed vessel before the whole thing goes down. Q: With busted USB ports, no mouse, no trackpad, how do I get my data off of this thing? Should I just get it cracked open and scavenge the hard drive, jettisoning the rest, or is there a way to save the whole laptop, resurrecting the USB ports and (dare I hope?) the trackpad?
