Some days my soul gets tired.. Tired of seeing pain and strife.. Some days I wish I could just be like others and just ignore injustices yes that would be a simple life.. Some days I wish I could just hide behind the title Christian and quote a scripture pay my 10% that would be easy. Problem is knowledge of the blood isnt guaranteed to free me. I cant watch my people destroyed and stand quietly by.. I search for the truth my soul screams daily why... I can code switch with the best of them from corporate to country gal. Gotta get the pain out cuz in America there currently is no wall to wail. I respect my ancestors to much to just say follow directions.. In America no matter your crime you are guaranteed certain protections... Its deeper than black on black crime. I hate a murderer no matter the color of the skin connected they should at least serve prison time. In Africa they coined the term apartheid to explain the problem. In America we shut down every race conversation without discussions just like black on black crime no reason to try and solve them... Taxation without representation. My tax dollars do pay your salary. If Im stopped and frisked dont be offended the attention isnt considered flattery. Our sons and daughters enlist in the same fight. Explain to me how its not okay for my people to demand a very basic right.. My son has the right to be. Lynching has evolved I remember when they used only a rope and a tree... Presently just walking down the street can cause your demise... Media report part of the story a lil truth mixed on with many lies... I am tired of people telling me who we are. We are the same as you we eat sleep, work and sometimes drive the same car.. Our sons we love them same as you do yours.. Our daughters they make us cry and laugh cant understand why some of you just classify them as ghetto whores... Not publicly in our face but privately behind a computer screen no need to sugarcoat what you read was exactly what they mean... No longer hiding behind the scenes that strange fruit always been at the Thanksgiving meal. Dont blame me Im the messenger Im just keeping it real.
