Some desperate people had their benefits stopped for weeks while the governments new scheme reverified there genuineness. After 6 or more weeks when it was found their case was genuine, their benefits were reinstated, but by that time many had incurred massive debts, most with no hope of ever repaying them. These debts are the fault of the governments short sighted sloppy management of its implementation of the welfare reform. I believe if folks incurred debt as a direct result of this benefit shake up, and were subsequently found to be genuine cases, they should have these debts cleared by the perpetrators - the government....just my humble opinion...
