Some evenings are much more special than others. I had the great honor of being invited to a presentation of “The Boy Who Danced on Air.” It was truly a goosebump experience. Between the compelling story and the amazing songs by Charlie Sohne & Tim Rosser, I was introduced to a world that was new and totally foreign to me. The story is based on a documentary called “The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan.” “The Boy Who Danced On Air” is a musical that focuses on a tradition in Afghanistan called Bacha Bazi (boy play): wealthy men take in young boys from poorer families and train them to be dancers. The songs that were performed by Jason Gotay (Peter Pan, Live & Bring It On) & Danny Quadrino (Peter Pan, Live & Newsies) brought the two main characters to life. The music was beautiful and has stayed with me ever since. I cannot wait to see the show brought to life on a stage with a full audience. Heres a peek of one of the beautiful songs I heard.
