Some examples of IELTS speaking part 3: Predicting/Speculate type • What will shops / shopping habits be like in the future? It’s kind of hard to say what shops will be like in the future, but I reckon they might become bigger and offer a wider range of styles and designs. I can see that smaller shops might disappear and start only selling things online to reduce their fixed costs, like rent or staff pay. • What will public transport be like in the future? I know for certain that Hanoi will have a skytrain that goes from Ha Dong to Cat Linh. I heard it will be ready by 2016 or 2018. There’s a chance that people will stop riding their motorbikes and switch to public transport and hopefully the traffic in the cities will get better and with it, pollution will decrease as well! • What types of hobbies will become popular in the future? I have no idea what hobbies will become popular in the future. I just hope that gambling won’t be a popular hobby in Vietnam because that could destroy people’s lives and put them in debt. I guess the same kind of hobbies that are popular in Hanoi will become popular in other smaller cities and villages in Vietnam. • What types of trips / holidays will people take in the future? In Vietnam, most people only go to their hometown or go away on the weekend to the beach or mountains. But we are already beginning to see the rise in popularity of travelling abroad – an increasing number of people travel to countries in Asia, like Singapore or Malaysia and I guess the younger generation want to go to Europe, America or Australia on vacation. • What will cars be like in the future? It would be great if cars could fly cos that would solve the problem we have with congestion. I don’t really know, but I suppose cars will become more automatic and might not need a driver anymore, meaning you won’t have to drive your car anymore. You just have to tell it where to go and it will take you there, which is great when you are drunk or ill. Plus that might also mean that people won’t have to get their driving license done. • What will TV programmes be like in the future? I have no idea because I hardly ever watch TV. But I have the feeling that there will be more junk on TV. Already, we can see there are some weird tv programs and I often ask myself ‘How did they think of doing a show about this?’ What’s that really silly show… ahh. I can’t remember, but it’s about matching beautiful girls with really ugly nerds. .................................................... Like and share it if its useful for you!
