Some follow up in preparation for the Nov 27th Meeting: Folks, - TopicsExpress

Some follow up in preparation for the Nov 27th Meeting: Folks, I understand and can see the concern from many residents regarding this latest industrial development proposal. My intent on posting the original information was not to create undue stress or panic, but to notify all about an Application that is making its way thru the Planning Process. The purpose of having the Developer present what they would like to build is so that we can all be informed and have an opportunity to ask questions. Our public meeting with this Developer is not required by law and it was them who approached me to start the discussions. There are many unknowns currently about this development (yes I had an initial meeting, but many of my questions and points were not answered) and the November 27th Meeting that we already had planned is a perfect opportunity to hear about this development. Its my hope that you will all want to understand as much as possible before coming to any final conclusions or judgements, as I do. Our plan is to conduct an informative and civil meeting where this topic will be discussed in as much detail as time will permit. Any questions and concerns not fully addressed at this meeting will be actionable for follow up by the RG. After all, that is why we are here. To assist in being the voice of our Community. But communication is a two-way street so I encourage you all to be patient throughout this process and come to the meeting to listen and be heard. We always conduct our meetings in a productive and civil manner and I will not tolerate any witch hunt or lynch mob type of behaviour. This Application is not in the final stages of the planning process and there is ample time for us to get involved, form a collective opinion and make our voices heard. This meeting on the 27th is only the first step. I can tell you that I personally have some experience in dealing with issues like this potentially could be, as I led a Task Force Group in Brampton several years ago that represented local residents collective opinions on a Residential Development Application for Loafers Lake. I am very sure that our Group had some impact on the final decisions by the OMB and the eventual change of this development to something more accepted by the Community. Please rest assured, that once all the information is understood, questions have been answered and facts checked, if at that point it is the consensus of the SFV Community at-large to not support this development proposal, then myself and the RG Team will fight this with all our might. And I can tell you that over these years of our existence, that we have garnered a well-respected Community voice with the Town and many other stakeholders involved in our Village and will be listened to. Its been brought to my attention that some residents have started a petition against this. I think this is too early without knowing all the facts. However, if we feel a petition is warranted down the road, we will certainly get one done. Thanks for your attention and understanding. - Ken
