Some good news! Looks like Scotland will be exempt from the provisions of the UK Governments Infrastructure Bill which would allow fracking under peoples homes without their consent. This follows amendments tabled by Tom Greatrex MP for Rutherglen and Hamilton West the only Scottish MP on the committee. Looks like the pressure put on him by the public has had some effect! Well done to everyone who contacted him about this! People power can work. Now we need to stop all unconventional gas extraction everywhere and make sure that the UK Government sticks to its promise to exempt Scotland from this legislation. Its doubtful whether the UK Government had the power to change trepass laws in Scotland anyway given that they are devolved. Possibly this change of heart recognises that.
