Some good news to help fight opioid overdoses in our communities. Governor Patrick announced that Boston, Chelsea, and Everett were among the cities/towns chosen to receive grants from the Department of Public Health (DPH) to help first responders save lives by providing funding for opioid overdose response training and naloxone (Narcan) units that can be used to reverse overdoses. Police and fire departments in these communities will share over $600,000 in funding under this pilot program, which was included in the FY15 budget passed by the State Senate and House of Representatives.
