For 25 years, Fisher Houses have provided ‘a home away from home’ for military and veterans’ families dealing with injury or illness. These homes provide free temporary lodging to military and veterans families so they can be close to their loved one during a medical crisis, allowing them to focus on whats important — the healing process. Fisher House Foundation is seeking a committed and innovative communications assistant to support the communications office in its efforts to raise awareness of the Foundation’s variety of services and programs and obtain public support across the country. This position is part-time, up to 24 hours per week, and could include some telework, although some office hours are required. The job offers valuable work experience directly related to academic field of study while the person is attending school. Or it can serve as an excellent job to reenter the workforce. Communications assistant will be employed year round and will have a flexible work schedule. Job Description: Working for the Communications office, the communications assistant’s job duties will include, but is not limited to: · Collecting news stories about Fisher House Foundation and upload into website Content Management System · Updating homepage news stories once every week or 2 weeks · Writing articles/blog posts about events & 25th anniversary/history · Updating fact sheets, directories and various materials as needed and upload to website under direction · Updating and assembling media kits · Editing articles for Fisher House Foundation’s magazine, The Patriot · Assisting in coordinating radio interviews for stations with Foundation staff · Assisting in creating programs for conferences and special events · Creating online communications toolkits · Pulling articles and videos for E-Patriot newsletter Qualifications: Sufficient education, training and/or work experience to demonstrate possessions of the knowledge, skills, and abilities to excel in the position. This includes: · Undergraduate communications degree completed or in process · Knowledge of the practices and techniques of writing news releases and stories · The ability to think creatively · Self-motivation and initiative · Experience accomplishing goals within a timeframe · Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally · Computer skills, including MS Office Suite · The ability to work effectively in a team environment · Ability to multitask and prioritize; · Preferably some experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Web Content Management Systems · Familiarity with social media platforms
