Some great performances from both our Junior Western Area Teams at last weekends National Team Championships in Walsall. Even though our boys team failed to reach the second round the team didnt lose any bouts after drawing 5-5 with both the North West and Midlands before defeating North 8-2 in there final pool bout. After some very good performance we just missed out on points again, but being one judoka short in the team was the reason to missing out on a possible improved result. The girls team proved that they really would have been serious medal contendors if they could have fielded a full team, after having just 5 out of the possible 9 girls in the team.The team lost to London 5-3, the Scotland 5-4 and finally lost 5-4 South. But very encouraging was the fact that all the girls won bouts and on points between the actual fights the Girls team won all the team contest, before the bye cost them the real result. A big thank you to all the Judoka involved in the event and huge thanks to the support from all the parents and judoka who certainly continued the good spirited team support which was created from our recent trip to Belgium.
