Some images from Wednesdays nail-biting sentencing and final release of Lisa Leggio, Vicci Hamlin and Barbara Carter - the Enbridge 3 - who were convicted of misdemeanor trespassing, as well as felony resisting and obstructing police – for their nonviolent protest action last July in Stockbridge, Michigan against the Enbridge tar sands pipeline. The Ingham County Circuit Courtroom was packed with nearly 200 friends and family and Judge Collette made others who wanted to get in wait outside in the hall. It was standing room only in the jury box for the media. My friend, photographer Daymon J. Hartley, leaned over and asked one of the sherifs standing next to us, Whens the last time you saw the courtroom packed like this? The last time these three were here, she answered, referring to their jury trial a month earlier.
