Some important passages from a statement presented to UN Commission (1949) by Sheikh Ibrahim Sultan on behalf of the Eritrean Independence Block:...ኤርትራውያንን ኢትዮጵያውያንን ብሓደ ነቢሮም ኣይፈልጡን..ብቋንቋ ይኹን ብባህሊ፡ ብታሪኽ ይኹን ብሃይማኖት ፍጹም ዘራኽብ የብሎምን። ..ኣብ ጥንታዊ ዘመን ኣባሲድ፡ ኤርትራ ሓንቲ ካብቶም ብኻሊፍ ባቕዳድ ዝመሓደራ ዝነበራ ሃገራት የዕራብ እያ። ..ባሕሪ ነጋሽ ተሓታትነቱ መጀመርያ ንቱርካውያን ደሓር ከኣ ንግብጻውያን ድኣምበር፡ ምስ ነገስታት ኢትዮጵያ ዘራኽብ ወላ ሓንቲ ኣይነበሮን። ..ስለዚ ምምሕዳረይ ብጣልያን ተወሲዱኒ ኢላ ክትሓትትን ክትማጎትን ዝግብኣ ግብጺ ደኣምበር፡ ኢትዮጵያ ኣይኮነትን።.........I dont think Shiek Ibrahim (also Woldeab Woldemariam & others in the independence block camp) were this ignorant of our history. There must have been some other hidden agenda to commit gross misrepresentation of history. In any case, it is a false narrative and does not in any way reflect our true history and identity. #Eritrea
