Some impressive results came out the first round of selection races at Lake Moogerah. Close racing across all classes promises an exciting selection campaign for the Australian team. After finishing third on Saturday, Jake Tegart stepped up and dominated F1 Mens on Sunday, winning by over a minute. While there is no doubting Jakes skiing ability and fitness, he did make one change on Sunday which gave him a definite edge in the rough water. Jake rode a new Maha Longboard Gen II to the win on Sunday. We have been testing these next generation Longboards over the last six months and we now have the results to back up the theory behind the new design. Without lengthening the ski at all, we have increased its wet area, giving it more stability in the rough. The new design gives the skier an edge as the ski soaks up the choppy water better than the standard Longboard, we have estimated speed gains of around 3 to 5% in rough water and have speed tested it to over 130mph on the river. We have also made a slight change to the ZMR fin to further enhance performance. There are already 10 of these skis in circulation, some of the sports top names including myself, have been riding them for months. All of these skiers have reported an improvement in their skiing and 100% back the new design. The Maha Longboard Gen II was designed by Bob Maher and I, and these skis are available now at Zigs Marine.
