Some jazz musicians who happen to be women would like it if the auditions for the NYC Lincoln CenterJazz Orchestra were open and transparent allowing women the opportunity to be considered. It seems like the orchestra is a brotherhood, with invitation only auditions. I wish for that as well. But I still love Wynton Marsalis. I was lucky to attend his performance of Blood on the Tracks , his composition , a musical feat that won a Pulitzer Prize, with orchestra and Cassandra Wilson, vocalist. at the Masonic Auditorium about 1997.., this is his thank you letter to SF Jazz regarding his residency there last week. It is a fascinating letter if you love JAZZ !
