Some men give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; while others on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than before. ~ Polybius (Greek Historian) The last moments of a journey can be the toughest. They can be the hardest to accomplish. It’s typical to think to ourselves, “I’ve came this far. Everyone is going to feel that I’ve really reached for it. No one would really ever know if I just slowed down and stopped right where I am. After all, I’m much further than I was when I started.” And few would probably realize that you stopped short of your real goal. They’d look at you with some degree of admiration because of the distance you’ve came. Life would be good, you’d be better than you were when you started, and you could be satisfied with that. Except for one nagging thought that you’d have every time you looked in the mirror – “What if…” Lord Byron an English Poet born in the late 1700′s wrote these words that always come to mind when the temptation to settle for the acceptable instead of the best comes over me: “Of all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these ~ It might have been.” We don’t get overs in life. We can’t say “Kings X” like when we were kids. We were born for passion, and for passionate success. Anything less is just that, less. Less than what life offers us if we kick into gear and finish our race with every bit of focus and determination we can pull up.
