Some mind blowing stats from the western NY lake effect event of November 2014: 132 miles of Thruway closed NYSP delivered blankets and supplies to stranded motorists via ATVs State of Emergency (National Guard activated) in/for 10 counties off Erie and Ontario 526 plows, 74 loaders and 1247 operators on duty, some from this area Buffalo firefighters carried a patient 10 blocks to Mercy Hospital Rates of 3-5” per hour were reported, with thundersnow of course Lancaster, NY had 48” in 24 hours. Now up to 60” with up to 3’ more coming. Since 2000 (14 winters), 48 is more snow than Albany has seen in 5 entire winters. While Lancaster had 60”, the Buffalo airport had only 3.9”. The 2 spots are 5 miles apart. That is a wall of snow!
