Some months ago I wrote a little piece dedicated to the memory of Lol. A parish church asked me for something like a prayer or an elegy for a special concert they organized last winter. Im not a believer, so I proposed a meditation and as I had been thinking of dedicating something to Lol for months, B-flat Litany in memoriam Lol Coxhill (for trumpet and tenor saxophone) was the result. Not a masterpiece, but a sincere tribute to one of my fathers in music, a beloved friend whom I had the undeserved fortune of playing with during the years. Now I have recorded it and Id like you to listen to it on the anniversary date of Lol’s passing. The piece is totally composed, most of it written note by note, the rest provided with tight indications for the improvisation lead by my own “conduction”. The skills, the talent and the patience of my friends Riccardo Bianchi (trumpet) and Luca Ceribelli (sax) allowed me to make this tribute. Thank you.
