Some musings On Practice or no practice. . . I am interested in exploring, and challenging certain misperceptions around practice. I sense that there is a paradox: #1. we cant invest in the future else we end up practicing so we that we can finally be in the Present Moment then, when we are already here now. Thus in the power of now and the Advaita traditions which I had the opportunity to study with Papaji, there was the guidance to: Call Off The Search and let go of any mechanical practices. This is also why Alexander Technique cautions us about end-gaining trying to get somewhere, from the logical, rational mind, which can interfere, with our deeper, somatic Wisdom Mind...with our Knowing. 2. yet at the same time, there is something about a leaning toward a willingness, an intention, to bring mindfulness more fully into each given moment, rather than pure surrender. In this light, Practice, doing, or rather doing un~doing is crucial for a fully expressed and embodied life. Practice then becomes harnessing our consciousness instead of focusing wily nily on whatever grabs our attention inner or outer. Doing our practices helps us undo limited conditioning, limiting filters. that have rigidified us into what Stephen Gilligan calls neurophysical locks. I dont do practice to get to some pre-conceived state (Happiness, Peace, Love, Moksha, Nirvana, Liberation etc) I do practice to reduce the friction in the system so that I may more creatively Flow with the greatest amount of helpful feedback in this evanescent, ever changing PRESENT MOMENT.
