Some of my client Pauls leg session today. The front squat is an exercise I see done poorly on a daily basis (one of many). I met Paul a while back when he came to my Pilates class (yes I teach Pilates lol) with an injury. Having spent years sitting at the desk his posture, like many peoples wasnt great and it was causing him pain. I remember showing him the front squat for the first time because he found it impossible. I wish I had a video of it from a year ago because his mobility and flexibility have improved 10 fold! This is a great example of why you SHOULD do the exercises you are poor at, work on your weaknesses and reeducate your body too move better. Why???? THE BIG PICTURE: By spending time on Pauls movement, stability and mobility we got him pain free and to the point where I could train him HARD. What happens when you get someone to this point? THEY CAN MAKE PROGRESS! Hes nearly 49, pain free, hes strong, has more muscle and is leaner; but its outside the gym that the benefits really show. He enjoys his skiing more due to having better recovery, strength, and endurance. Often he would lose a day due too soreness! He can go on holidays that involve lots of sightseeing, walking and trips and not worry about being too tired like many of his friends. Importantly I doubt Paul will ever give up training now purely because doing so has substantial value. This is where you want to be with your HEALTH and fitness. At the point where it makes your life better in more ways than looking good in the mirror and it begins with learning to train correctly and finding someone who can take you along this journey. Thats when training becomes not only more fun but massively rewarding. Phil
