Some of the greatest failures of liberal, leftist Utopian notions - TopicsExpress

Some of the greatest failures of liberal, leftist Utopian notions can be seen in America and Europe today in public and low cost housing. I tweeted NaMo when I heard his goal for a house for every Indian by 2022. I requested that he should ask his advisers study the failures of the US projects and take care not to repeat it. In America, they built these gigantic high rises in the late forties and fifties, called public housing projects or projects as they are known today. They turned into nightmares within 20 years. Many had to be demolished. Now the liberals are claiming the failure of the projects was because the banking industry was was against such communist ideas from the start and caused their downfall! What they fail to understand is that the reason for the failure of any society is simple. It is the people. If the people are illiterate, poor and have no employment, criminal activity flourishes. These projects acted like filters to filter OUT the hard-working and talented people and keep the criminals IN. In a very short time it become concentrated with criminals and became deadly dangerous for any civic enforcement to even enter. Like the seawater gets more and more concentrated with salt, these projects became more and more criminal. Even today we can see these projects in every major city in America. Nobody goes near them unless they are forced to live there. We should not let the slums of India be replaced by these high rise slums. I hope people are provided houses far away from the slum centers of big cities of today, in new town ships. A hundred new cities - yes. But not a hundred new Mumbais and Kolkattas. Perhaps a hundred new old-Mysores or old-Chandigarhs.
