Some of the leading car designers have their roots at the faculty - TopicsExpress

Some of the leading car designers have their roots at the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at the Delft University of Technology. Some examples are Laurens van den Acker (chief design Renault) and Adrian van Hooydonk (chief design BMW). Automotive Design is one of the electives of the Industrial Design masters program. In this course, students get the chance to prepare themselves to become car designers! In less than 6 months the student has to analyse a contemporary car, research the future context for his/her domain and design two concepts. The first one being the Advanced concept for 2026 and the second one is a blend of the current car and the Advanced concept: it is called the Intermediate concept. Two of our team members have followed this very demanding course, of the 12 students we are very proud that Forze delivered the best two results of the group! Michel Haak, our former Team Manager spent his time on the creation of a future hybrid Cadillac with an electric powertrain, focusing on efficiency, dominance and comfort. Jelmer Peerbolte, active in the bodywork department designed a future version of the Mazda MX-5 roadster, powered by a hydrogen wankle-combustion engine. The goal was to forget the world around you and focus on the experience of driving.
