Some of us are losing focus. And this angers me greatly. The issue is not whether Mike Brown is a Saint. The issue isnt about Mike Brown at all. The issue is why there has been no arrest. The issue is where has due process gone to hide. The issue is what are we going to do about it. Some of our more fickle brothas and sistahs have already started turning all Judas Iscariot on us... Whether youve allowed the media to tarnish your image of Mike Brown, the looting and Molotov cocktail-throwing cousins out in Ferguson, or the situation as a whole. But how else does an oppressed person make grievances against the actions of those who devalue them, denying them even the most basic dignities of humanity? 6 shots...2 in the head...all from the front...none of them from close range. Left on the hot pavement for four hours. No arrest. Thats a damn shame, regardless of your color. Now for all of my pseudo-revolutionaries-turned-neoconservative-over-the-weekend folks, remember what you concluded. Etch this deep into your soul. Ill pray that this incident never happens to you or your son. But if it ever does, dont cry to the media. Dont run to NAACP talking about social travesties and miscarriages of justice. Dont find a camera talking this We as a people crap and expecting folks to organize when you found every excuse in the book to criticize and justify the final moments of Mike Brown. Ill bet you would sell out if they revealed store cam footage of Emmett Till actually whistling at a white woman in 1954...you probably think he got what he deserved, too... Meanwhile, your community is eroding underneath you. It begs for your acknowledgment when all you do is condemn it. And for what? To bask in the shadows of your oppressors continued commitment to injustice and devastation. A 64 300lbs child was killed. So does his size means he should be shot? Or maybe the officer needs to reconsider confronting folks he is obviously scared of if he lacks probable cause to eff with him. But thats not the story. America loves the brutish Black man...BA Barrakas, Kimbo Slice, Shaq, every college football or NFL player ever..as long as they know their place in the system. yet America tries to score points off of checking them, so as to feel power, similar to how they hunt a lion or alligator to challenge the perceived natural threat. God forbid the lion bites you back...then he needs to be put down... You have nostalgia about movements you werent even involved in...throwing up Black Power fists with your friends, being so righteous with your passions, your food choices (no pork on my fork), etc. But when the opportunity for unity and a demand for justice knocks at your door, you hide...while deconstructing every argument your visitors are trying to advance. Dont say anything to me if you aint helping now. At the very least, support justice. But when its you or your kid (God forbid), I am sick because even though your jovial sense of revolution sickens my stomach and bunches my intestine, I would still be there to support your out-of-touch, sell-out, undeserving behind. Because true justice knows no shortcuts and holds no grudges. I cant call you an Uncle Tom... at least Uncle Tom had the threat of death or a whipping from Massa as a reason to sell out. Yall are just straight-up free agent sell outs. The worst kind.
